As part of the project, HNTB landscape architects designed small passive recreation public spaces along the roadway. These small parks include green infrastructure to collect and filter stormwater run-off, while providing the community with new gathering spaces with benches, special paving and lighting. We hold weekly or bi-weekly meetings with the Owner and Architect to outline the project schedule, upcoming details, review change orders, and discuss any questions the team may have. The design-build contract focuses on constructing the northern interchange of Business Loop 81 (BL 81) and Interstate 81 (I-81) and reconstructing the new section of I-81 (former I-481) between Kirkville Road and the New York State Thruway (I-90). However, only work on the first three of eight planned contracts may currently proceed.
